Job Summary

As an Order Entry/Data Entry Specialist, you will be responsible for accurately and efficiently processing customer orders, managing inventory, and maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Key Responsibilities

* Enter customer orders into and interpret information from the company's computerized order processing system accurately and efficiently

  • Use effective time management techniques to accomplish assigned tasks within specified timeframes
  • Ask questions and request clarification when details seem unclear
  • Seek new information by reading trade publications and other sources
  • Possess an in-depth awareness of the different branch operations and how they relate to one another
  • Cooperate seamlessly with showroom, warehouse, and slab sales personnel
  • Ensure that all commitments made to customers and coworkers are reasonable and can be met
  • Demonstrate a willingness and ability to work within a team environment
  • Maintain a knowledge of competitors and their products
  • Demonstrate proficiency in using company computer applications
  • Enter customer orders into and interpret information from the company's computerized order processing system accurately and efficiently
  • Keep current on new products, discontinued products, products with supply problems, and out of stock products
  • Engage in problem-solving by actively listening to clients and coworkers
  • Use sound problem-solving techniques to arrive at a solution
  • Balance ongoing projects with the more immediate demands of the Order Desk

Essential Qualifications

* High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred

  • 1-2 years of experience in order entry, data entry, or a related field
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Ability to enter data using a computer keyboard and mouse; and function within a Microsoft Windows computing environment
  • Positive attitude and reliability

Preferred Qualifications

* Experience with freight, logistics, and delivery

  • Knowledge of inventory management and control
  • Familiarity with purchase orders and order fulfillment processes
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Interpretation of technical instructions in written or diagram form and dealing with several abstract and concrete variables
