THE ROLE: AMD Advanced Rendering and Engineering is a group of cross-disciplinary teams working at the intersection of graphics research and productization. Our mission is to create cutting-edge software that equips developers and publishers with the tools they need to build immersive, high-performance games optimized for AMD hardware. In this role, you'll have a unique opportunity to bridge the gap between groundbreaking research and real-world game development. You'll work alongside brilliant research engineers to bring proof-of-concept prototypes to life as production-ready technologies, and partner directly with leading game developers to see your work integrated into AAA titles played by millions. You'll have significant influence over technical direction and the chance to start from first principles on exciting new projects at the forefront of graphics and machine learning. THE PERSON: The ideal candidate is an experienced software engineer with a passion for unlocking the full potential of breakthrough and emerging technologies. You bring a strong technical background in GPU/APU programming, C++, and machine learning, paired with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and synthesize information from a range of specialist domains. You're a clear communicator, intellectually curious, and excited by the challenge of turning cutting-edge research into polished, performant products. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Work closely with research engineers to transform proof-of-concept prototypes into mature products at a very high level of quality Collaborate with external game development partners to integrate these technologies into their titles Optimize, extend, package, and document high-level compute shader and C++ code Contribute to the technical direction of new projects, helping shape them from first principles Travel occasionally, both domestically and internationally, to engage with partners and teams PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Computer science background with substantial full-time experience writing efficient, high-level shader code (HLSL SM6, GLSL, Slang, etc.) and modern C++ (17 and up) Strong understanding of low-level machine learning concepts and design patterns, including automatic differentiation, computational graphs, tensor broadcasting, etc. Knowledge of real-time rendering and graphics algorithms Excellent written and verbal English skills Knowledge of GPU ISAs, especially AMD RDNA and modern game console architectures (desired) Experience working with modern machine learning libraries such as PyTorch or TensorFlow (desired) Knowledge of physically based rendering algorithms, including sampling and shading, light transport, etc. (desired) Experience with modern graphics APIs such as DirectX 12 or Vulkan (desired) Applied mathematics background in fields such as linear algebra, differential calculus, stochastic optimization, and statistical analysis (desired) ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS: Bachelor, Master of Science or PhD degree with emphasis in computer science, computer engineering, or applied mathematics with relevant experience preferred #LI-IS1 #LI-REMOTE Benefits offered are described: AMD benefits at a glance.
