Workplace: Remote ( #LI-Remote ) We are looking to add a Legal Assistant with California civil litigation experience to support our growing California Staff Counsel team! This is a virtual position. Job Summary Performs legal and secretarial tasks for assigned attorney(s), with supervision and oversight from their leader. Essential Job Functions Maintains schedules and calendar for assigned attorney(s). Composes a variety of correspondence, pleadings and various legal forms. Coordinates time and location of multi-party appearances, including depositions, arbitrations, mediations, Independent Medical Exams (IME’s) meetings and site inspections. Answers telephone calls, emails and handles client inquiries. Receives and processes incoming mail. Contacts clients, witnesses, court reporters, interpreters, claims personnel, and others to confirm scheduled appearances as instructed by assigned attorney(s). Maintains a thorough knowledge and keeps up-to-date with court rules and legal deadlines. Physical Actions This role, whether performed virtually or in an office setting, will include normal and customary distractions, noise, and interruptions. Sits or stands for extended periods of time, up to a full work shift. Occasionally reaches overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping. Occasionally moves, lifts, carries, and places objects and supplies weighing 0-10 pounds without assistance. Listens to, interprets, and differentiates auditory information (example others speaking) at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Visually verifies and reads information. Visually locates material, resources and other objects. Ability to continuously operate a computer for extended periods of time, up to a full work shift. Physical dexterity sufficient to use hands, arms, and shoulders repetitively to operate keyboard and other office equipment up to a full work shift. Education Requirements High School Diploma or equivalent required. Experience Requirements 1-3 years experience in civil litigation as a legal administration clerk, secretary, or legal assistant required.
