Since its founding in 1994, careerzynith has grown to operate in over 145 locations, offering more than 25 medical specialties and consistently earning top rankings for patient satisfaction, clinical excellence, and community impact. Our mission is simple yet powerful: to improve the health and well‑being of every person we serve by providing accessible, coordinated, and patient‑centered care.

Why This Role Matters

As a Part‑Time Remote Customer Service Specialist with careerzynith, you will be the first friendly voice patients hear when they call our Access Center. You will serve as a vital bridge between patients, physicians, clinical teams, and external partners, ensuring that every interaction is handled with empathy, accuracy, and efficiency. Your work directly influences the patient experience, supports clinical workflows, and helps maintain the high standards of care that define careerzynith.

Position Overview

This part‑time, remote position follows a structured schedule:

  • Monday & Tuesday: 8:00 am – 2:30 pm
  • Friday: 9:00 am – 1:00 pm

During these hours you will manage a high volume of inbound calls, navigate our electronic health record (EHR) system, and collaborate with a diverse set of stakeholders to resolve patient needs promptly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Electronic Health Record Management: Navigate careerzynith’s EHR to retrieve, validate, and document patient demographic, clinical, and financial information while maintaining strict HIPAA compliance.
  • Call Handling & Issue Resolution: Answer inbound calls from patients, providers, and facilities for appointment scheduling, medication refills, insurance referrals, symptom triage, pre‑certifications, billing inquiries, medical form requests, test results, and more. Ensure each call is resolved to the caller’s satisfaction.
  • Critical Thinking & Decision‑Making: Quickly assess the reason for each call, determine the appropriate action, and, when necessary, research complex issues within the EHR or consult with clinical staff for escalation.
  • Appointment Coordination: Schedule patient visits according to provider preferences, verify insurance eligibility, collect and document demographics, and communicate appointment instructions clearly.
  • Insurance & MyChart Support: Provide basic insurance guidance, assist patients with MyChart portal usage, and ensure accurate capture of insurance data.
  • Provider Communication: Relay pertinent clinical information to physicians and clinical staff, especially during after‑hours situations, using secure messaging within the EHR.
  • Performance Metrics Management: Meet or exceed established standards for abandoned call rate, average speed of answer, and average handling time while delivering consistent, courteous service.
  • Safety‑Sensitive Awareness: Maintain a constant state of alertness and adhere to safety protocols as defined by careerzynith for this safety‑sensitive role.

Essential Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 2–5 years of experience in a customer service, call‑center, or healthcare support role, preferably within a high‑volume environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate complex software systems (EHR experience is a strong plus).
  • Excellent verbal communication skills with a professional, empathetic, and respectful tone.
  • Strong organizational abilities and meticulous attention to detail for accurate data entry.
  • Basic understanding of health insurance concepts, medical terminology, and patient privacy regulations (HIPAA).
  • Ability to work independently from a remote location while maintaining productivity and meeting performance targets.

Preferred Qualifications & Additional Skills

  • Previous experience with careerzynith’s EHR platform or similar systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner).
  • Certification in medical office administration or a related field.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and web‑based communication tools.
  • Demonstrated problem‑solving skills, especially when handling complex or escalated patient issues.
  • Ability to multitask effectively while maintaining a calm and patient demeanor.
  • Experience working in a remote or hybrid environment, with a reliable home office setup.

Core Competencies for Success

  • Empathy & Patient‑Centricity: Genuine concern for patients’ needs and the ability to convey compassion through phone interactions.
  • Communication Excellence: Clear, concise, and articulate speech, coupled with active listening.
  • Analytical Thinking: Rapid identification of call purpose and appropriate next steps, using logical reasoning and available resources.
  • Technical Proficiency: Comfort with navigating multiple software applications simultaneously.
  • Time Management: Ability to prioritize tasks, manage call queues, and meet performance metrics without sacrificing quality.
  • Team Collaboration: Willingness to partner with clinical staff, providers, and administrative teams to achieve shared goals.
