Position Overview

The Remote Database Analyst role at careerzynith is a critical pillar in our data ecosystem. You will partner with cross‑functional teams—including product engineering, operations, analytics, and security—to design, maintain, and optimize SQL Server databases that power mission‑critical applications. Your expertise will ensure data integrity, high availability, and performance while supporting disaster‑recovery initiatives that keep our global logistics network running 24/7.

Key Responsibilities

  • Investigate and resolve routine and complex database issues, providing timely root‑cause analysis and remediation.
  • Design, implement, and monitor backup strategies (full, differential, and transaction‑log backups) to guarantee data recoverability.
  • Develop, schedule, and fine‑tune SQL jobs, scripts, and maintenance plans to automate routine tasks and improve operational efficiency.
  • Perform performance tuning and query optimization, including index management, statistics updates, and execution‑plan analysis.
  • Collaborate with development teams to translate application requirements into robust, scalable database solutions.
  • Lead disaster‑recovery drills, validate recovery procedures, and continuously improve the resilience of our data platforms.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of database architectures, configurations, and standard operating procedures.
  • Participate in on‑call rotation to provide after‑hours support for critical incidents, ensuring minimal downtime.
  • Stay current with emerging database technologies, cloud services, and industry best practices to recommend enhancements.

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years of hands‑on experience managing Microsoft SQL Server environments (versions 2016‑2022).
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot database problems, perform root‑cause analysis, and execute disaster‑recovery tasks.
  • Solid understanding of backup and restore procedures, including point‑in‑time recovery and log shipping.
  • Experience with performance tuning techniques such as indexing strategies, query rewriting, and execution‑plan analysis.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated teamwork and collaboration skills, thriving in a remote, distributed environment.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills

  • Hands‑on experience with careerzynith IaaS and PaaS SQL technology (e.g., Azure SQL Database, Azure Managed Instance).
  • Proficiency in PowerShell scripting to automate database administration tasks.
  • Familiarity with SQL Always On Availability Groups and database mirroring for high‑availability solutions.
  • Knowledge of cloud‑native monitoring tools (e.g., Azure Monitor, Log Analytics) and alerting frameworks.
  • Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate or similar.
  • Experience working in a logistics, e‑commerce, or large‑scale data processing environment.

Core Competencies

  • Analytical mindset: Ability to dissect complex data problems and devise practical, scalable solutions.
  • Detail orientation: Meticulous attention to data integrity, security, and compliance requirements.
  • Adaptability: Comfortable navigating fast‑changing priorities and emerging technologies.
  • Customer focus: Understanding how database performance directly impacts internal and external users.
  • Collaboration: Strong partnership skills across engineering, product, and operations teams.

  • Opportunities to lead high‑visibility projects, such as migrating legacy workloads to cloud‑native platforms.
