[Remote] Operations Manager, Research

The Jackson Laboratory is an independent, nonprofit biomedical research institution focused on discovering genomic solutions for disease. The Operations Manager will oversee and optimize daily operations, ensuring alignment with organizational goals while managing resources and fostering collaboration across departments.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement operational strategies aligned with the organization's objectives
- Streamline workflows and procedures to enhance productivity and reduce costs
- May supervise and mentor operational teams, ensuring they meet performance targets
- Ensure products/services meet quality standards through regular monitoring and improvements
- Identify potential risks and develop contingency plans to mitigate them
- Maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of goods/services
- Ensure operations comply with relevant regulations and industry standards
- Analyze operational data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement
- Liaise between different departments to facilitate seamless operations and communication flow
- Oversee the planning, execution, and completion of research projects, ensuring they meet deadlines and adhere to quality standards
- Manage research budgets, allocate resources efficiently, and optimize funding for various research initiatives
- Supervise data collection methods, analysis techniques, and ensure accuracy and reliability of research findings
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align research goals with organizational objectives and integrate research findings into actionable insights
Skills
- Bachelor's degree, master's degree preferred
- 5 or more years of related experience working in an academic scientific research setting
- Strong project management experience is required
- Understanding of operational processes, supply chain, and logistics
- Knowledge of budgeting, cost control, and financial analysis
- Understanding of the industry-specific operational requirements
- Familiarity with relevant laws and regulations impacting operations
- Utilizing software and tools for process optimization and data analysis
- Ability to lead, motivate, and manage teams effectively
- Capacity to identify issues and develop effective solutions
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with various stakeholders
- Capability to analyze data and make data-driven decisions
- Organizational skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to think long-term and align operations with organizational goals
- Flexibility to adapt to changing environments and prioritize tasks accordingly
- Confidence in making timely and informed decisions
