[Remote] Principal Infrastructure Software Engineer

Insight Global is seeking a Principal Infrastructure Software Engineer to lead the technical direction within their entertainment client's Platform Modernization team. This high-impact role involves architecting and building internal platforms and automation tools to enhance infrastructure delivery and operations at scale.
Responsibilities
- Define scalable backend architectures and technical patterns
- Drive platform modernization initiatives across teams
- Influence long-term technical direction
- Build backend systems, APIs, and automation tools
- Improve CI/CD pipelines (GitLab) for security and observability
- Deliver reliable, scalable infrastructure platforms
- Mentor engineers and guide technical decision-making
- Partner with stakeholders to align on priorities
- Act as a go-to technical authority across infrastructure teams
Skills
- 10+ years in backend/platform engineering
- Strong coding in Go or Python
- Experience building APIs, automation frameworks, or control planes
- Knowledge of Kubernetes + Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Pulumi, Ansible)
- Experience with gRPC, REST, Kafka (event-driven systems)
- CI/CD experience (GitLab preferred)
- Strong understanding of SRE principles, observability, and reliability
- Strategic thinker who designs scalable, high-impact systems
- Strong ownership mindset—comfortable working autonomously
- Passion for building tools that are adopted and drive real change
- Clear communicator across engineering and leadership
