Senior Ocean Freight Coordinator (Consulting Position)
Job Overview We are a growing logistics and freight services company preparing to obtain our FMC Ocean Transportation Intermediary (OTI) / NVOCC license. We are looking for an experienced ocean freight professional who meets the Federal Maritime Commission’s Qualifying Individual (QI) requirements. This is a contract position that may be converted to full-time.
Responsibilities
- Be the primary point of contact as the qualifying individual to help answer any questions from FMC
- Must provide 3 references related to your past Ocean experience to FMC
- Teach ocean freight operations to the larger team
Experience
- Minimum 3 years of full-time, verifiable experience performing and supervising ocean freight operations (export and/or import).
- Direct experience with OTI/NVOCC functions such as bookings, documentation, rate management, and regulatory compliance.
- Strong knowledge of FMC rules, service contracts, tariffs, and required documentation.
- Served as primary operational contact for shippers, consignees, NVOCCs, VOCCs, and customs brokers.
- Provided ocean rate quotations, transit-time comparisons, sailing schedules, and route options to clients.
Pay: $50.00 - $500.00 per hour Work Location: Remote
