Our culture is built on integrity, collaboration, and a relentless focus on creating value for both our clients and our employees. As we continue to expand our data‑driven capabilities, we are looking for passionate, technically skilled professionals to join our remote team in Costa Rica.
Why This Role Matters
Our Voice‑of‑Customer (VoC) platform captures feedback from more than 5 million surveys annually, spanning consumer, business, and service‑provider segments. The insights derived from these surveys drive strategic decisions, product enhancements, and operational improvements across the organization. As a Senior Voice‑of‑Customer Data Engineer, you will be at the heart of this transformation, designing and maintaining the data pipelines, models, and analytics that turn raw survey responses into actionable intelligence.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Architecture & Modeling: Design, build, and maintain robust data models that support both batch and real‑time analytics for the VoC platform.
- Pipeline Development: Create scalable ETL/ELT pipelines using Hadoop, HDFS, Hive, Spark, and Python to ingest, cleanse, and enrich survey data from multiple sources.
- Collaboration with Product & Business Teams: Partner closely with product owners, business analysts, and agile squads to translate functional requirements into technical solutions.
- Performance Optimization: Tune large‑scale data processes for speed, reliability, and cost‑efficiency, ensuring sub‑second latency for critical dashboards.
- Data Quality & Governance: Implement automated testing, validation, and monitoring frameworks to guarantee data accuracy and compliance with internal standards.
- Advanced Analytics Enablement: Provide clean, well‑documented data sets that empower data scientists and analysts to develop predictive models and sentiment analysis.
- Automation & Tooling: Build reusable scripts, CI/CD pipelines, and automation tools to streamline repetitive tasks and reduce manual effort.
- Mentorship & Knowledge Sharing: Guide junior engineers, conduct code reviews, and foster a culture of continuous learning within the data engineering community.
- Agile Delivery: Participate in sprint planning, daily stand‑ups, and retrospectives, delivering incremental value in short, iterative cycles.
Essential Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of hands‑on experience with Hadoop ecosystem technologies (HDFS, Hive, MapReduce, Spark).
- Proficiency in Python (including PySpark) and shell scripting for data manipulation and automation.
- Strong background in designing and implementing data warehouse schemas and dimensional models.
- Demonstrated ability to work with large, complex data sets (multi‑terabyte scale) and deliver high‑performance solutions.
- Experience with survey or voice‑of‑customer data platforms, or similar customer‑feedback systems.
- Solid understanding of Agile methodologies and experience delivering features in two‑week sprint cycles.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.
- Fluency in English (both written and spoken) is required; Spanish proficiency is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Statistics, or a related field.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and managed services such as EMR, Databricks, or Redshift.
- Familiarity with data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI, Looker) to support end‑user reporting.
- Knowledge of machine‑learning pipelines and ability to collaborate with data‑science teams on model deployment.
- Certifications in Big Data, Cloud Architecture, or Agile Project Management.
Core Skills & Competencies
- Technical Acumen: Deep expertise in big‑data processing, data modeling, and performance tuning.
- Problem‑Solving: Ability to dissect complex data challenges, propose elegant solutions, and execute them efficiently.
- Collaboration: Strong team player who thrives in cross‑functional environments and values diverse perspectives.
- Adaptability: Comfortable navigating a fast‑changing landscape, learning new tools, and iterating quickly.
- Ownership: Proactive attitude toward taking responsibility for end‑to‑end delivery and continuous improvement.
