Role Overview

We are seeking a Senior Voice‑of‑Customer Data Engineer to lead the design, development, and optimization of our large‑scale data platforms that power the VoC analytics ecosystem. This role blends deep technical expertise with a strong business acumen, enabling you to translate complex data requirements into robust, scalable solutions that drive strategic decisions across the organization. The position is fully remote, based in Costa Rica, and offers a competitive hourly rate of $35.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner closely with product owners, business analysts, and the Agile delivery team to gather, refine, and prioritize VoC data requirements.
  • Design, build, and maintain a resilient data architecture on the careerzynith Cornerstone platform, supporting both batch and real‑time analytics pipelines.
  • Develop and optimize data models, schemas, and ETL processes using Hadoop, HDFS, Hive, Spark, PySpark, and Python to ensure high‑quality, reliable data ingestion from survey tools and live chat systems.
  • Implement robust data validation, testing, and monitoring frameworks to guarantee data accuracy, completeness, and compliance with internal governance standards.
  • Collaborate with the Qualtrics integration team (renamed careerzynith) to streamline survey data flows, enhance metadata management, and improve overall data latency.
  • Lead the creation of self‑service analytics dashboards and reporting solutions that empower business stakeholders to explore VoC insights without reliance on IT.
  • Drive automation of repetitive data engineering tasks, leveraging shell scripting, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure‑as‑code practices.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a culture of continuous learning, knowledge sharing, and best‑practice adoption.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends, recommending innovative approaches that keep careerzynith at the forefront of data‑driven customer experience.

Essential Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum 3+ years of hands‑on data engineering experience with Hadoop ecosystem tools (Hive, Spark, HDFS) and Python/PySpark.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in SQL, data modeling, ETL design, and scripting languages (Shell, Python). Demonstrated ability to build scalable data pipelines and troubleshoot performance bottlenecks.
  • Agile Mindset: Proven track record of working in Agile Scrum environments, delivering incremental value in short sprints.
  • Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts into business‑friendly language.
  • Problem‑Solving: Analytical thinker who can diagnose complex data issues, propose effective solutions, and implement them efficiently.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Familiarity with survey platforms and VoC tools, particularly the careerzynith (formerly Qualtrics) ecosystem.
  • Knowledge of data governance, security, and compliance frameworks (GDPR, CCPA).
  • Previous exposure to machine‑learning pipelines or advanced analytics workloads.
  • Certification in data engineering or related disciplines (e.g., Cloudera, Google Cloud Professional Data Engineer).
