About the role: At Vantage, the Primary Casualty Underwriting Assistant is a Casualty team member. This role will be responsible for daily assistance in managing all underwriting transactions to support the Primary Casualty underwriting team. This role reports to our Head of Primary Casualty, and is a remote or hybrid opportunity based in one of Vantage’s office locations. Vantage’s US colleagues can work anywhere in the United States (excluding US territories and possessions). The base salary expectation for this role is between $60,000 and $85,000. The actual base salary for the selected candidate may be higher, commensurate with the candidate's experience and expectations. Responsibilities & Accountabilities: Perform underwriting support activities for managing all underwriting transactions, service standards, compliance rules, and documentation. Develop proficiency in fundamental underwriting analysis, file preparation, and report assessment. Provide accurate rating support for new business submissions and renewals. Producing quotes, binders, and endorsements for the Underwriters. Issuing new business and renewal policies as instructed by the underwriting team. Demonstrate a customer service mindset by proactively engaging with underwriters and internal and external contacts. Collaborate and correspond with internal and external contacts to achieve a high level of service and meet client expectations. Interact directly with various business partners and internal departments. Meet departmental service standards in place for each process. Partner with operations and technology team on design and systems implementation with a focus on ongoing process improvement. Perform other duties and special projects assigned under minimal supervision. Ability to process and adapt to change in a rapid growth new-company environment. Vantage associates are expected to be curious, thrifty, and resourceful to manage through the unknowns of growing a specialty (re)insurance business from the ground up. Ideal Candidate Profile: A bachelor’s or technical degree or equivalent professional experience is preferred. At least one year of insurance industry experience preferred. One year of insurance product line experience preferred. Knowledge of insurance policy forms and regulatory requirements. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Analytical: Able to identify and define problems, extract critical information from data, and develop workable solutions for the identified issues to test and verify the cause of the problem and develop solutions to resolve the identified issues. Drive to Deliver: Takes accountability for work, organizes and priorities, delivers results, is action-oriented, sets and achieves goals, and demonstrates resilience. Customer service focus: Recognizes customers’ needs, meets their requirements and adds value to customer outcomes, balances customer and business. Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, & ImageRight. Ability to process and adapt to change in a rapid growth company environment.
