About careerzynith – Pioneering Health & Wellness at Scale

careerzynith is a century‑old leader in the retail pharmacy and health‑services arena, operating thousands of stores across the United States, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. From a modest storefront in Chicago in 1901, careerzynith has evolved into a technology‑driven, omnichannel health destination that serves nearly 10 million customers each day. Our mission is simple yet powerful: to improve lives through better health. We achieve this by blending a deep heritage of community‑focused pharmacy care with cutting‑edge digital products, data‑analytics platforms, and innovative health solutions. As we continue to expand our digital footprint, we are looking for a seasoned legal professional to guide the compliance, risk, and regulatory strategy for our Digital Products & Data Analytics teams—remotely, from the comfort of your home.

Why This Role Matters

The Senior Counsel, Digital Products & Data Analytics will be the strategic legal partner for careerzynith’s technology and data initiatives. You will shape the legal framework that enables rapid product development, secure data handling, and responsible AI deployment while protecting the company from regulatory and commercial risk. This is a high‑visibility role that sits at the intersection of law, technology, business, and public health, offering a unique opportunity to influence the future of digital health services at a global scale.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide proactive, business‑focused legal counsel to senior leaders across multiple functional areas—including product management, engineering, data science, marketing, security, and compliance—on matters that affect the development and delivery of digital health products.
  • Lead the design, negotiation, and execution of complex commercial agreements such as technology services contracts, data licensing agreements, cloud‑service arrangements, and vendor partnerships.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive privacy and data‑protection strategies that align with U.S. state and federal regulations (e.g., HIPAA, CCPA, GDPR where applicable) and industry best practices.
  • Advise on intellectual property protection, software licensing, open‑source compliance, and technology transfer issues to safeguard careerzynith’s innovations.
  • Collaborate closely with internal security, risk, and compliance teams to embed legal risk‑mitigation into product roadmaps and release cycles.
  • Draft, review, and maintain internal policies, standard operating procedures, and governance frameworks that support ethical AI, data stewardship, and responsible innovation.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with external counsel on specialized matters, coordinating discovery, litigation support, and regulatory investigations as needed.
  • Monitor evolving legal and regulatory landscapes, providing timely updates and strategic recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Mentor junior legal staff and cross‑functional partners, fostering a culture of compliance awareness and proactive risk management.

Essential Qualifications

  • Education: Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Licensure: Active bar admission in at least one U.S. jurisdiction (Illinois bar membership preferred).
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of post‑bar experience practicing law in both law‑firm and corporate environments, with a focus on technology, data privacy, and commercial contracts.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage high‑stakes, multi‑jurisdictional legal projects and to deliver pragmatic solutions under tight deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with a track record of translating complex legal concepts into clear business guidance.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of influencing senior executives and external stakeholders.
  • Proven experience drafting and negotiating technology‑focused agreements, including SaaS, cloud services, data sharing, and strategic alliances.

Preferred Qualifications & Attributes

  • Experience in the health‑care, pharmacy, or consumer‑services industry, particularly with digital health platforms.
  • Familiarity with emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, and blockchain as they relate to health data.
  • Hands‑on experience with privacy‑by‑design frameworks and data‑mapping initiatives.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, remote work environment, demonstrating self‑discipline, strong organizational habits, and proactive communication.
  • Demonstrated leadership in cross‑functional teams, with a collaborative mindset and a willingness to mentor junior colleagues.
  • Certification or coursework in data privacy (e.g., CIPP/US, CIPP/E) or technology law is a plus.

Core Skills & Competencies

  • Legal Acumen: Deep knowledge of contract law, privacy regulations, intellectual property, and corporate governance.
  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to align legal risk‑management with business objectives and product innovation cycles.
  • Communication: Clear, concise, and persuasive articulation of legal advice to non‑legal audiences.
  • Project Management: Skilled at juggling multiple, concurrent initiatives while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Collaboration: Comfortable partnering with engineers, data scientists, product managers, and senior executives.
  • Ethical Judgment: Commitment to upholding the highest standards of integrity, especially when handling sensitive health data.
